Protective clothing against liquid chemicals.
Performance requirements for clothing with liquid-tight (Type 3) or spray-tight (Type 4) connections, including items providing protection to parts of the body only(type 3; type 4; type PB [3] and type PB [4])

  • Preconditioning (clause 4.1): 5 cycles of washing (if laundering is provided for and the n. of cycles is not specified)
  • Conditioning (clause 4.1): 24 hours at (20 ± 2) °C and (65 ± 5) %RH – Start the tests within 5 minutes after removing the test specimen

They must comply with EN 340 – Freedom of movement and maximum comfort (assessed during ergonomic tests)

SEVEN exercises test (clause 4.3.4.1)

These requirements also apply for items (gloves, boots, hoods or respirators) that are not integral with the garment

  • Year of manufacture and, where appropriate, the date of expiry if due to fall within 24 months (it may be on the packaging)
  • The “read instructions for use” pictogram
  • Care symbols complying with EN 23758 for reusable clothing
